Finding Mistakes part 2

This week has proved to be a great week. The children have worked on correcting each others work. We discussed that when we correct other friends work we must "kindly" tell our friends their mistakes (NCATE 5). By the end of the week the children were "picky" on highlighting mistakes. I found it very interesting that the children would discuss why they had highlighted mistakes and if it was a true mistake or not (NCATE 7). I believe that my children have learned a great deal on proper writing techniques. I have also taken the time this week to have one on one mini-lessons with individual students (NCATE 2). In these mini-lessons I would focus specifically on errors that were common to the specific student. I believe that this week has been a week that the children have learned to write neatly, using spaces, and properly on lines. What a great week!

  1. I think it's a great idea that you have taught your students how to correct each other's work. This will help them to be more aware of mistakes they may make when they are writing!

  2. Children love using highlighters. They also like finding others mistakes. They are learning by finding the mistakes of others. Great use of indicators. You have done a wonderful job teaching your children how to write.

  4. Sounds like you have created an awareness that writing is a process. Great job!!! If you think it is developmentally appropriate for your students, you may want to use one of their writing as an example of how to make revisions.

  5. I love this lesson. It is a chance for the students to take their writing to a new level. This lesson will help them when they get to 5th Grade Writing.
